Equipment and Assessment Set-Up
Purpose:
Ensure TUG assessment is set up in a safe and effective space, including all required equipment for clear and complete data collection.
Scope
Setup of actual TUG assessment space.
Ensure equipment works and the team is set up for success.
Procedure:
Collect equipment:
Ipad, tripod, ipad cradle, a chair with no armrests, tape measure and cone.
Format iPad:
Attach the ipad to the tripod using the cradle.
The top of the ipad will be at 36”. Look for a sticker on the back of the ipad to display where the top of the cradle holder should align. This should set up the tripod and ipad correctly.
Format space:
Place the chair against a wall to prevent movement.
Place the tripod with the ipad attached 14 feet from the chair. The 14 foot measurement starts at the center of the tripod (directly below the ipad camera) and ends where the patient's feet will rest when sitting in the chair (~front of chair legs).
Place the cone 10 feet from the chair (where the patient's feet will rest when sitting in the chair, ~front of chair legs). Note: distance from cone to ipad is 4 feet to allow for patient turn around.
Notes:
A practice trial should be completed before patient assessments begin.
If helpful, using tape, outline the bordering sides of the walkway to/from the camera for better patient awareness of space. This will encourage them to stay in frame throughout the assessment.
